18 weeks - 2/26/2013

18 weeks – 2/26/2013

How far along?: 18 weeks
Due Date: July 30, 2013
Baby is the size of a?: Bell Pepper
Maternity Clothes: Brett’s mom bought me lots of goodies – gray dress slacks, two tank tops, a coral sweater, and a white and navy nautical themed top (pictured above).  Also used a gift card to buy a pink cotton blazer (non maternity) and some sweatpants.
Baby Purchases: Nothing yet.
Sleep: lots of tossing and turning because my lower back bothers me but it still doesn’t seem to be affecting my day – I guess I’m still going to bed early enough to compensate.
Symptoms: back pain and tired feet if I overdo it. (which I did this weekend 🙂 )  Also, my ezcema is still flared up 😦 no fun.  So I’ve been going makeup-less until it calms down (also pictured above 🙂 )
Miss Anything?: since my belly is starting to get bigger – I miss the ease of things without the belly i.e. shaving legs – bending over – etc.  I’m anticipating that these things will get more fun over the next few months.
Movement: Nope.  Doc said that you have to be really still to feel it.  So I try at night – and then I fall asleep. 🙂  Still I think it’s kindof early.
Food cravings: Oranges (or OJ), Ovaltine, Watermelon, green olives.  Also, I really love breakfast sandwiches but I loved those before baby so that’s probably not considered a craving.  I make B & I an egg and cheese sandwich every morning.  Yum.
Mood: Happy
Rings: Off – I went to the jewelry store this weekend to get Brett’s ring resized.  While I was there, I just had the jeweler look at mine because it had been too tight before I got pregnant.  Also, I wanted him to check the setting and clean it.  Turns out it was very difficult to get my ring off and the jeweler said that it would cost upwards of $500 to repair it should I have to have it cut off.  So I decided for the next 4 months or so I could just wear another ring that B gave me that’s a size larger.
Belly Button: In but probably not for long
Gender:  ??
Pregnancy Workout: I rode the stationary bike this week.  Also this weekend I walked a lot, went on a small doggie hike with B, and did a lot of laundry which involves two flights of stairs!  My feet and back were not happy with my productivity!!
Pregnancy Pet Peeve: slouching hurts my back…i like to slouch.  Can proper posture be a pet peeve?
Pregnancy Updates: had one of my monthly doc appointments on Friday.  Everything is perfect. Heartbeat was 148 per minute which is average.  Had blood drawn to check for Spina Bifida.  Made my next ultrasound appointment when we will find out if its a Boy or a Girl.  March 27th!!  Get excited!!
Best Moment this Week: On Friday, I got my new jacket!! This weekend I got to go shopping with my friend, Jac!  We were super productive including; getting shoes resoled, rings resized, dresses altered, and shopped at target and kohls!!  Later I went with B to one of his friends houses for a get together where we played a fun game called Wits and Wagers.
Looking forward to: Short-Term: I’m taking this Friday off so B and I can have a mini vacation – we are still undecided on what to do but I’m sure it’ll be fun!  Long-Term: Match Day – Ultrasound Day!
BabyCenter Update: Head to rump, your baby is approximately  5 1/2 inches long (about the length  of a bell pepper) and weighs almost 7 ounces. He’s busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you’ll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. If you’re  having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy,  his genitals are noticeable now, although he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

my new jacket!

my new jacket! – I love it!  Its a little bigger so it still zips and it’s so warm!

the inside fleece is red - and you can zip it out and wear it alone!

17 Weeks

17 weeks - 2/19/13

17 weeks – 2/19/13

How far along?: 17 weeks
Due Date: July 30, 2013
Baby is the size of a?: Turnip
Maternity Clothes: Nothing new! But I’ve started being okay with wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes and just showing the bump (hence the comment today “you are blooming”)
Baby Purchases: Nothing yet.
Sleep: Still takes a while to get situated – and more waking up than normal – but I get a good amount of sleep 😉
Symptoms: still the same; lower back pain occasionally
Miss Anything?: Coke
Movement: Nothing yet
Food cravings: Ovaltine and oranges
Mood: Happy
Rings: On
Belly Button: In
Gender:  ??
Pregnancy Workout: B and I went on two dog walks this weekend (whoop whoop).  Definitely got winded going up hills but I really enjoyed the walk.  Going to try to ride the stationary bike this week in the mornings while I catch up on Nashville and Downton Abbey (once I’m caught up I’ll start watching my DVDs of JAG)
Pregnancy Pet Peeve: when your belly is bigger and you are cooking…it gets hot and my belly isn’t even near what it’s going to be…how to pregnant women cook without setting themselves on fire!
Pregnancy Updates: nothing has changed.
Best Moment this Week: Had fun this weekend going on our dog walks.  I made my first homemade avocado roll for lunches this week! Also B got his split off this morning so he’s officially two armed again!
Looking forward to: Getting contacts on Thursday (so tired of glasses) and getting a brand new winter jacket on FRIDAY!!  Definitely won’t last through the pregnancy but it won’t have too since winter will be over soon.
BabyCenter Update: Your baby’s skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she’s around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

We forgot week 15 :(.  He/She was the size of a navel orange.  Promise – we are going to get better at this!

16 weeks – 2/12/2013

How far along?: 16 weeks
Due Date: July 30, 2013
Baby is the size of a?: Avocado (yum)
Maternity Clothes: Nothing new!
Baby Purchases: Nothing yet.
Sleep: More tossing and turning 😦 but I go to bed early to compensate 🙂
Symptoms: lower back pain if I stay in weird positions for long (i.e. the floor)
Miss Anything?: feta cheese on my gyro
Movement: Not yet but supposedly it should happen in the next few weeks
Food cravings: Still OJ and Avocado sushi but also fruit roll ups (bad for you!!!) so I’m trying to eat clementines instead.
Mood: Happy
Rings: On
Belly Button: Still in…for now
Gender:  too soon to know!
Pregnancy Workout: Laziness this week
Pregnancy Pet Peeve: People giving me advice I don’t want 😉 and people telling me how much they hated pregnancy (gee thanks!)
Pregnancy Updates: everything’s going great!
Best Moment this Week: Valentines Day with my hubby!  I got flowers at work – then we had cedar plank salmon, baked potatoes, salad, and chocolate covered strawberries.  Yum!  Perfect night!
Also, last weekend we had some of Brett’s friends over and played Risk and Monopoly – girls dominated both games!
Looking forward to: Brett’s splint being removed!  If you didn’t know he had surgery on his ulnar nerve (elbow) last week and has been in a splint ever since.  Which means that he is practically one armed.
BabyCenter Update: Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length . Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too.
