21 weeks – 3/19/13

better late than never ūüôā
How far along?: 21 weeks
Due Date: July 30, 2013
Baby is the size of a?: length of a carrot
Maternity Clothes:¬†Brett’s parents bought me a pair of coral capri’s at Kohls. ¬†Sadly ever since it’s been kind of chilly so I’m hoping it warms up soon so I can wear them to work.
Baby Purchases:¬†Brett’s parents bought little baby a National Park Passport when they were up for match day. ¬†Its a little book that has all the national parks and everytime you go to one you can get a ‘cancellation’ stamp – similar to the stamp you get on your passport when you enter a new country. ¬†It has the state park name and the date you visited. ¬†So Baby P got his first stamp at Petersburg, VA.
Sleep:¬†sometimes all through the night – sometimes I’m wide awake for no reason at all
Symptoms:¬†I had a charlie horse this last weekend…not fun. ¬†Also my feet and legs ¬†are getting tired towards the end of the day or if I’m doing more excersize than normal ūüôā ¬†Granted my shoes aren’t super supportive.
Miss Anything?:¬†I really want a sandwich…but I’m too lazy to heat cold cuts so that I can have one. ¬†There is one sandwich I want in particular – A Charlottesville sandwich shop called Bellair Market sells a sammy called the Ednam…I want it so bad. ¬†ūüôā
Movement:¬†Every few days or so I feel what I think is the baby ūüôā
Food cravings:¬†watermelon…yum
Mood: Happy although this week was stressful with Match Day.  We could have ended up all sorts of places so we are pretty happy with UNC.
Rings: Wearing a larger ring
Belly Button:¬†not in…not out…more like flush
Gender:  NEXT WEEK!
Pregnancy Workout: negative
Pregnancy Pet Peeve:¬†can’t think of anything new ūüôā
Pregnancy Updates: had a doctors appointment on Friday Рeverything is completely normal.
Best Moment this Week:¬†We found out on the 15th that Brett matched at UNC – so we’ve been looking at houses and planning our move!
Looking forward to: Wednesday we will found out if we have a little boy Pettett or a little girl Pettett
BabyCenter Update:¬†Your¬†baby¬†now¬†weighs about three-quarters of a pound¬†and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long ‚ÄĒ¬†the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she’s practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your¬†baby’s¬†eyebrows and lids¬†are present now, and if you’re having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

How far along?: 20 weeks
Due Date: July 30, 2013
Baby is the size of a?: length of a banana
Maternity Clothes: nothing new
Baby Purchases: Nothing yet.
Sleep: still a lot of turning Рlast night I woke up at 3 and could not go back to sleep.  So I just went in the spare room and played on the computer for an hour until I got drowsy.
Symptoms: nothing new
Miss Anything?:¬†lots of food items ūüôā – I’ll have a whole list of things I want after baby.
Movement:¬†I think so. ¬†Some swirling sensations but I don’t feel it everyday so who knows..
Food cravings: Same things (ovaltine, green olives, orange juice/clementines) and add to that sour worms, peanut butter cookies, and brownies.  Honestly, I wanted all these things before but I just think about wanting them for longer now.  Does that still count as a craving?
Mood: Happy
Rings: Wearing a larger ring
Belly Button: In-ish
Gender:  March 27th!
Pregnancy Workout: bleh РI was not super healthy this week.
Pregnancy Pet Peeve:¬†how does someone respond to this “I see you are getting bigger” … gee thanks. ¬†I have no problem getting bigger as that is a part of being pregnant…I just don’t know the appropriate response without sounding sarcastic. ¬†So far…I just smile and nod.
Pregnancy Updates:¬†nothing other than possible movement ūüôā
Best Moment this Week: Brett found out on Monday that he matched!! YAY
Looking forward to: Friday we find out where we will be living for the next five years
BabyCenter Update:¬†Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He’s also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel ‚ÄĒ¬†the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure,¬†measurements¬†are taken from the top of his head to his bottom ‚ÄĒ the “crown to rump” measurement. After 20 weeks, he’s measured from head to toe.)He’s swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you’ll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

19 weeks - 3/5/2013

19 weeks – 3/5/2013

How far along?: 19 weeks
Due Date: July 30, 2013
Baby is the size of a?: Heirloom Tomato
Maternity Clothes:¬†This week I bought myself some matenity support tanks made by Blanqi.¬† They were kind of pricey but¬†I’ve only had them since Friday and they are great.¬† They really take¬†some of the weight off the tummy and so far¬†my back pain is almost nonexistent.
Baby Purchases: Nothing yet.
Sleep:¬†I still toss a lot and now¬†I also pee a lot ūüôā¬† Poor B – I woke him up twice last night going to the bathroom…and I managed to step on the dog coming back so I’m disturbing the whole household ūüôā
Symptoms: nothing new
Miss Anything?:¬†Steak – a very rare one…
Movement: None that I feel
Food cravings: Chocolate Milk (ovaltine) Рgreen olives.
Mood: Happy
Rings: Wearing a larger ring
Belly Button: In
Gender:  We will know on March 27th
Pregnancy Workout: I rode the stationary bike this week and this weekend B and I went on a small hike.
Pregnancy Pet Peeve: why are so many maternity clothes horizontal stripes?
Pregnancy Updates:¬†results for Spina Bifida came back negative…or more so there is a 1 in 10,000 chance the baby has it.
Best Moment this Week: I took Friday off from work and Brett and I visited Appomattox (more specifically Appomattox Courthouse). Appomattox is where General Lee surrendered the Northern Virginia Army in the Civil War.  There was a lot of war talk but I enjoyed looking at the old buildings.  We took Axel with us and went on a 1.5 mile hike and then toured the park!
Looking forward to: Match Day is next week!
BabyCenter Update: Your baby’s sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don’t be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you. Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom ‚ÄĒ about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Our Chariot for the day

Our Chariot for the day, Roxanne.¬† She’s cute, she’s comfy, and she can hold a lot of stuff, including Axel who has his own domain in the back.

Quote of the week:¬† Brett (to me) – “I need you like a man needs a woman” – in reference to his inability to tell when the brownies were done baking
