Flashback…wedding favors

I didn’t have a blog when I was making wedding favors. And I’m sure that if I had, I wouldn’t have had time to blog anyway what with wedding planning and tax season…AGHHH.  So I’m posting about them now.  For wedding favors, I made burlap bags with felt flowers sewn on and a button!  I made the felt flowers with my die cutter!  I tried cutting them out by hand but that lasted about 5 minutes.  I would highly recommend a die cutter for anyone with wedding planning…and even with the die cutter and the supplies.  I still spent less than I would have if I’d bought favors.  In the bags I wanted to put a daffodil bulb but turns out that they are impossible to find in late April so Momma and I went down to Ace hardware in Gray and bought some Gladiolus bulbs.  I put a little piece of paper in each bag explaining what Gladiolus’ symbolize faithfulness and honor (perfect marriage symbol).

My programs are little booklets that included our proposal story, the attendants, etc.

Thanks to my awesome bridesmaids for staying up tying 200 programs & favor bags with ribbon the day before the wedding!  I love you Allie, Alicia, & Sarah!!

Fabric Flowers & Frills

So this weekend between signing up for CPA stuff and watching after the dog I did a lot of crafting. :)!  Started watching the show Friday Night Lights while i was crafting too…So that was nice.  Got to be productive and relax all at the same time.  For the longest time I’ve been wanting to make these fabric flowers (off the same website as the planner cover) and make hair bows out of them.  Success.  Pictures below Family and friends beware…you may be looking at your next birthday/Christmas present.

So today I spent most of the day working on a scrapbook I want to give to our mothers of pictures from the wedding.  It’ll actually be to our parents but I feel like the women will more appreciate the time and craftiness of the scrapbook pages.  I love scrap-booking but I’ve never had to do two at a time!!!  Its been different creating pages in bulk instead of spending hours one one page.  But it was fun.  I made the pages pretty much identically except some changes based on favorite colors and personalities and such.  I don’t have my wedding pictures yet so I made the pages ready to go except for the pics.  I’ll probably but more groom pictures in Brett’s mom’s book and more of me in my mom’s…for obvious reasons :).  This is just a sneak peak since certain people might be reading this before they receive their scrapbooks.  I still think its turning out wonderfully…the pages are bright and all over the place like me.  A lot of them are very simple and others are busy so they balance out.

I think i’ll add words and captions once i see the picture and decide which ones will go where.  I also plan on adding a CD of the picture and a DVD of our wedding video to the front.  Then after all this…I’ll start on my own scrapbook 🙂  I’ll use this as practice 🙂

Planner Cover

This weekend I finally finished an ongoing item on my to-do list.  A new planner cover.

It’s nearly impossible for me to find a planner that satisfies my desire for colorfulness as well as organization. I usually end up with one of the Franklin Covey planners because i like their layouts.  However most of their planner covers are pretty dull.  The one i’d been using was black and teal.  It was okay but just not snazzy enough.  I found this website with great instructions on how to make a new planner cover.

This is a planner I can be proud of :).  Now that I know how to do it I’ll be able to replace it occasionally.  And its a lot cheaper than buying a new store bought one.
